The state of Minnesota requires a person to have either a Permit to Carry or a Permit to Purchase in order to buy a gun.

Taking our course is the first step in obtaining a Permit to Carry.

If you will not be carrying your handgun in public, you could choose to apply for a Permit to Purchase instead.  A Permit to Purchase has the following requirements:

Be at least 21 years of age to buy a handgun,
Be at least 18 years of age to purchase semi-automatic long guns,
Not been charged with a crime of violence,
Have not been convicted of a fifth degree assault,
Have not been convicted of domestic violence per US Code, and a few other items.

You can apply for a Permit to Purchase from the POLICE DEPT in the city where you live.  Get the application here

You do not need to take a course from us or anyone else to qualify for a Permit to Purchase, but you will not be able to legally carry your gun outside of your home.
