Court overturns concealed-carry rule in blow to California gun law

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A federal appeals court on Thursday struck down a requirement by San Diego County that residents show "good cause" to carry a concealed firearm, a ruling that could force local governments across California to revisit the way they license handguns.

A three-member panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, acting on a 2009 lawsuit, ruled in a 2-1 decision that San Diego County's restrictions amounted to an unconstitutional infringement on citizens' Second Amendment rights to bear arms.

Proposed bill to carry in Post Offices by Senator Rand Paul

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee met yesterday to tackle an important bill that probably won’t get too much attention: a wide-ranging postal reform package. It’ll tackle several key areas of postal policy, including postage rates, post-office banking, pensions for USPS employees, etc.

But during the hearing, Sen. Rand Paul had a new postal provision he’s apparently excited about. The Kentucky Republican wants to include a provision in postal reform that would “remove a federal ban on guns in post offices.”
Paul said his gun rights amendment would allow licensed gun owners to carry weapons inside post offices, rather than having to unholster them and keep them in the car. Guns are banned in federal buildings, including post offices.

Rock County Minnesota Sheriff Errors in Permit to Carry Application

Recently a former Gun Permit Center student applied for the Minnesota Permit to Carry.

However, this former student was told by the sheriff of Rock County Minnesota that a passport picture was REQUIRED. The applicant then supplied a passport type photo and his permit was issued with his picture on it.
